Course Descriptions for the five-course Marquette University Certificate in Financial Planning Program  - a CFP® Board- Registered Education Program offered at locales in Illinois and Wisconsin.

FP 21 - Insurance Coverage & The Financial Planning Process
Insurance coverage is at the foundation of financial planning, so this course explores in-depth insurance theories, insurance markets, individual and group insurance products, and the application of these products to sophisticated fact patterns. The course also provides an overview of the personal financial planning process from gathering data through analyzing and formulating a comprehensive plan.  Materials will include regulations affecting financial planners, basic time value concepts, calculator operations, and various ethical, economic, and professional considerations affecting financial planners. FP 21 classes typically meet on Saturdays from 8:30 am to 6:30 pm every other week for three weekends.

FP 22  - Investment Theory & Planning
This course provides a rigorous discussion of investment terminology as well as an in depth analysis of a variety of investment products, investment philosophies, and the  statistical tools commonly used to measure and evaluate portfolio risk and performance. Students also develop an understanding of portfolio allocation techniques and other academically recognized investment concepts and theories.  The course also surveys the sources of investment information, and reviews the tax factors, financial markets, and securities regulations that impact the investment field.  FP 22 classes typically meet on Saturdays from 8:30 am to 6:30 pm every other week for three weekends

FP 23 - Income Tax Concepts & Planning
This course provides students with an in depth understanding of  individual taxation, and an overview of the concepts and principles that govern the taxation of business operations, as well as the implications to individuals of distributions from various types of business entities. The particulars of taxation as they pertain to investment transactions and personal tax savings techniques will be stressed. FP 23 classes typically meet on Saturdays from 8:30 am to 6:30 pm every other week for three weekends.

FP 24 - Retirement & Employee Benefits Planning 
This course familiarizes students with the various types of qualified and non-qualified personal and employer-sponsored retirement plans. Students also learn about group-life and medical benefits, employer welfare programs, VEBAs and ESOPs. FP 24 classes typically meet on Saturdays from 8:30 am to 6:30 pm every other week for three weekends.

FP 25 - Estate Planning & the Probate Process 
Students explore the various aspects of  estate planning and become familiar with the probate process. Focus is placed on the fundamentals of federal transfer taxes, estate valuation techniques, forms of ownership, inter vivos and testamentary trusts, living wills, and post mortem estate planning. FP 25 classes typically meet on Saturdays from 8:30 am to 6:30 pm every other week for three weekends.

FS  2 -  FINRA SERIES 7  REVIEW -  a two-day seminar that provides a comprehensive review for the NASD Series 7 exam.

FS  3 -  FINRA Series 63 Review  - this half-day seminar provides a comprehensive review  for the NASD Series 63 exam.

FS  4 -  FINRA Series  65/66  Review - a two day seminar that offers a basic background in Investment Principles, Individual Taxation, Time Value Concepts & Financial Calculator Operations and provides students with the necessary knowledge to sit for the NASD Series 65 or 66 to become a  Registered Investment Advisor and/or to obtain the PFS designation if you are a CPA. The course is elective but is a highly recommended prerequisite for those students who want to enter the Marquette University Certificate in Financial Planning Program  before obtaining at least one of the following (1) a graduate degree, (2) a college degree in Accounting, Business, Economics, or Finance, or (3) a written confirmation from the CFP Board that they have satisfied the experience requirement necessary to become a CFP®  Certificant.

FW  5 -  Advanced Markets Workshop  this complimentary half-day program explores various Advanced Market credentials and products that are available in the financial services field to build a more successful practice.

FS 9 –  Accident, Life & Health Insurance Review - this one-day seminar provides students with a comprehensive review for licensing in Indiana, Illinois,  Wisconsin and most other states in in these lines of Insurance.

FS 10 – Property & Casualty Insurance Review - - this one-day seminar provides students with a comprehensive review for licensing in Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin and most other states in these lines of Insurance.
